The Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem is a “home away from home” for families with children receiving care in our community’s medical facilities.  These families usually come from outside of Forsyth County but those families with limited transportation options and living within Forsyth County are also welcome!  RMHWS provides basic and essential needs for our families including food and shelter.  We also provide family support services and a huge dose of tender loving care!

The House is open every day of the year and we are able to welcome 35 families each night.  We function with a full-time staff of nine and over 4,000 volunteers!  We also operate two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms inside Brenner Children’s Hospital and Forsyth Medical Center with the day services of the House provided in these.  Our volunteers are the “heart” of the House as they serve in a variety of capacities – receptionist, cook, cleaner, envelope stuffer, luminary kit builder, tee shirt folder, etc…  In 2014, we celebrate our 30th year of service and have welcomed over 20,000 families who have stayed at the House and over 200,000 visitors who have accessed the Family Rooms.
