RIBBON CUTTING EVENT:  JUNE 24, 2014 11:45 a.m.

Corks, Caps & Taps has opened at 626 West Fourth St., between Skippy’s and Foothills Brewing.

The combination bar and retail shop for wine and beer is owned by Nicole Terry. It is managed by her father, Mark Terry, the winemaker of the former Westbend Vineyards in Lewisville.

The shop has 24 beers on tap as well as craft beers by the bottle. Beers on tap include such North Carolina craft beers as Fullsteam, Beer Army and Mother Earth. Other beers from around the world include Guinness, Great Lakes, Sapporo, Sweetwater and Helles.

The shop has about 100 different wines. About 15 percent of the wine selection is from North Carolina, including remaining inventory from Westbend.

A 16-bottle WineStation lets customers use a special debit card to taste a variety of wines.

The shop also sells such foods as meats and cheeses.

Weekly free wine tastings are planned each Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Corks, Caps & Taps is open from noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to midnight Friday and Saturday.
