Tech Council Speaker Series:
Dr. John McConnell, CEO of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center
February 11, 2010

presented by Cook Medical

Dr. McConnell presented “Bench to Bedside: The Impact of Academic Medicine” at the Chamber’s 2010 Tech Council Speaker Series on Thursday, February 11 at 9:00 a.m. at the Piedmont Triad Research Park (115 S. Chestnut Street).

This free talk explored answers to the question: what is the true value to the community of a preeminent academic medical center of the highest quality and major national distinction? Dr. McConnell, who has just led the Medical Center through a comprehensive strategic planning process, shared Wake Forest Baptist’s vision for the future--especially in terms of its research and technology enterprise--and what that can mean in terms of local and regional economic development.

Presented in partnership with Cook Medical and also sponsored by SolidSpace LLC, Stantec, Targacept, the Wake Forest University Office of Technology Asset Management, the Inception Micro Angel Fund, and the Small Business & Technology Development Center, Winston-Salem and Greensboro (both partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration). Networking refreshments provided by Jason’s Deli.
