Business and Education Alliances

The business community is uniquely positioned to help our schools with both human and material resources, as well as resources, and professional expertise. Companies can make a meaningful contribution to help students prepare for life and work in the 21st century. Some examples:

  • Form/strengthen a business-school partnership
  • Assist in preparing students for the workforce
  • Encourage employees to volunteer in a school of their choice
  • Support the recruitment and retention of high-quality teachers
  • Donate financial and material resources
  • Be an advocate for public education
  • Promote family involvement in education
  • Encourage current employees to further their education

With the mutual goal of providing a quality education for every student, the Chamber has contracted with WS/FC Schools to administer their business partnership programs. The focus is to strengthen planning and dialogue among school and business partners, and to recruit new partners. The Chamber also administers the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools' system-wide volunteer program.

Each of the Chamber's business education initiatives is designed to promote student achievement, with the secondary goal of developing positive mentoring relationships. To learn more about the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System, visit http://wsfcs.k12.nc.us
