This Chamber council promotes minority-business development and economic development in general in the eastern area of Winston-Salem. The council provides opportunities for diverse Chamber members to network and collaborate, and recognizes individual businesses that have excelled in the community.

The East Area Council also coordinates the annual Mayor's Open Golf Tournament, a corporate-sponsored fund-raising event that benefits the Vivian H. Burke Scholarship fund at Winston-Salem State University.
