Minority Business Scholarships

The Winston-Salem Chamber, in an effort to help area small businesses grow and prosper, has partnered with Wake Forest University to offer Minority Business Scholarships. There are a limited number of scholarships awarded per year.

These scholarships are available for local minority and women-owned small businesses. These criteria include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be in business for at least one year
  • Must not have been a member of the Winston-Salem Chamber during the last 12 months
  • Business must be classifiable and certified as a Historically Underutilized Business*

A business owner or representative must also be willing to participate in the following chamber events including, but not limited to:

  • Attend a Member Orientation
  • Attend at least four Chamber events
  • Submit graphics and descriptive wording for your company’s listing in the Chamber’s online business directory at www.winstonsalem.com
  • Schedule an individual meeting with the chamber’s business development team

*The program considers a Historically Underutilized Business as defined in NC G.S. 134-128.4 (a)(b) to be a firm in which ownership is held by an individual(s) from one or more of the following groups: ethnic minority, female, disabled, or disadvantaged; and in which at least 51% of the ownership and control is held by one of the aforementioned groups.
