“The Chamber’s Senior Academy Program is an essential tool in the community arsenal of volunteerism for it provides needed support to students who can succeed but need our guidance and encouragement at a critical juncture in young adulthood.”

In February and March of 2012, over 270 businesses joined the Chamber - thanks to the hard work and commitment of more than 300 business volunteers. Lights! Chamber! Action! – the Chamber’s 2012 membership event and community awareness campaign has increased overall awareness of the Chamber’s role in growing the existing business community in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County with the goal of increasing membership support -  all while having a great time! We thank all our new members and all our volunteers for helping grow our economy.

Famed filmmaker “Action” Anderson, the alter ego of Chamber President Gayle Anderson, led the charge, along with Alan Caldwell and Peggy Carter, members of the Chamber’s board of directors. The trio put out the casting calls and recruited the 300+ volunteers who reached out to friends and business contacts over the three-day event.

Before the event began, Alan Caldwell, immediate past-chairman of the Chamber’s board of directors talked about the event and its impact in the community, “this event is very important to the growth of the Chamber as an organization focused on the health and well-being of the local business community. At the end of the three days, all our volunteers and the countless people they’ve spoke with over the phone will know a lot more about the Chamber than they knew before the event. It’s a fun opportunity for members to celebrate and build awareness of the Chamber’s successes in our local community.”
