Chamber Publishes List of Area Tech Experts
Winston-Salem (September 10, 2009) – The Tech Council of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce has released a compendium titled “A List of Area Technology Experts.” A tool primarily for media representatives and journalists, the document is designed to provide background and contact information for local professionals, along with their area(s) of expertise. First Annual Cook Medical Innovation Award to be Presented on October 13, 2009
Winston-Salem (August 12, 2009) – Cook Medical, in partnership with the Technology Council of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce, has created the Cook Medical Innovation Award to be presented to an area individual, company or organization for developing a product, procedure or concept that represents an elegantly simple solution to a complex problem; benefits society; positively affects the marketplace and demonstrates a high degree of creativity. The Technology Council of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce will hold its yearly Technology Briefing on March 24 at 8:00 a.m. at the Salem Fine Arts Center on the Salem College campus. Construction Career Days 2009 
The Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and the NC Department of Transportation will present Construction Career Days 2009, April 7-9 at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Please click here for more details. 

Piedmont Aviation to Expand Operations in Forsyth County
Piedmont Aviation Component Services will expand operations at their Kernersville facility, bringing jobs to the region. This consolidation will bring 120 new jobs to Forsyth County that will pay an average of $44,850 a year, not including benefits. Piedmont also plans to make a capital investment of more than $5.8 million in machinery and equipment. Click here to read more.

Chamber Re-Launches Triad JobNet; Opens Service To Everyone
The Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce is re-introducing its Triad JobNet service and is opening access to the entire business community. The site has been used by Chamber member companies for years for posting jobs and browsing resumes, but now any company may take advantage of all its services free of charge. Says Cathy Bechtel with Express Employment Professionals: “Opening the Triad JobNet service to the entire business community is just another way the Chamber is saying ‘we want to help.’” Click here to read more.

Chamber Announces New Partnership with City of Winston-Salem

The Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and the City of Winston-Salem are teaming up for a new year-long partnership. Focusing on helping businesses meet the challenges of the current economic climate, the partnership includes a series of programs titled “2009: It’s Your Business.” Says Gayle Anderson, Chamber president and CEO: “By teaming up with the City, we hope to be able to help more businesses not only survive during these challenging times, but actually grow.” Click here to read more.

Dean and DeCristo Chosen to Helm Chamber Technology Council
January 28, 2009 - Bill Dean and Jim DeCristo have been chosen as Co-Chairmen of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce Technology Council Executive Committee for 2009. Dean is Director of the Piedmont Triad Research Park, and DeCristo is Director of Economic Development and External Affairs at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Says Peggy Low, Chamber Senior Vice President of Technology: “We are lucky to have the talents and expertise of Bill and Jim behind us as we continue to implement our new Technology Roadmap.” Click here to read more.

Nike Roach Recognized as 2008 Chamber Ambassador of the Year
January 16, 2009 - Nike Roach of 6th Sense Health and Wellness has earned the Chamber’s Ambassador of the Year award for 2008. He was recognized at a special Ambassador meeting on January 8, as well as at the 2008 Ambassador Luncheon in December. Roach earned Ambassador of the Month honors six times in 2008—more than any other Ambassador. “Nike is just amazing,” says Gayle Anderson, Chamber President and CEO. Click here to read more.
