“The Chamber’s Senior Academy Program is an essential tool in the community arsenal of volunteerism for it provides needed support to students who can succeed but need our guidance and encouragement at a critical juncture in young adulthood.”

Twenty years ago, Winston-Salem and the Triad experienced a series of devastating job losses and the decline of its key industries. Seeing the need to shape a new path, the Chamber and the community began to develop a vision for our future. Through the Tech Council and its technology-based economic development efforts, this vision has become a reality and Winston-Salem is transforming into a hub of innovation and progress.

On September 23, we celebrated these accomplishments and thanked all those individuals whose leadership and foresight have guided us. However, we did this with the full awareness that much still needs to be done. The Chamber and the Tech Council continue working to ensure Winston-Salem will always be seeking new paths for growth and prosperity. Visit techcounciltimeline.com to download a mobile app, created in partnership with Small Footprint, and learn more about our community's accomplishments over the last 20 years.

Justin Catanoso, Executive Editor of The Business Journal, emceed the evening’s program, which featured a multimedia production, produced by Swiftwater Media, highlighting our community’s successes in Technology and the special recognition of two local Technology Champions: Doug Maynard and Ted Kaplan. Learn more about Dr. Maynard, Commissioner Kaplan, and the Technology Champion Award here.
