Classroom Speakers Program

The Classroom Speakers Program includes local business and community volunteers who are willing to share their expertise with students in the classroom. The purpose of the program is two-fold; speakers bring relevance to a particular topic, helping students understand the connection between the curriculum and the real-world of work. A second goal is to provide teachers with additional curriculum-related resource expertise.

The Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the WS/FCS Career and Technical Education Department, recruits volunteers and maintains a database of community volunteers willing to make presentations in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools. The database is updated regularly as new speakers are recruited.

To become involved, the volunteer speaker should complete the Online Registration Form. In completing the Form, the volunteer provides information on the topic, grade level, and a brief description of the presentation content.

Teachers may review the list of available speakers, decide which topics fit their curriculum, AND then contact the volunteer to arrange for a presentation on a given topic. When planning the presentation with the teacher, any special needs should be addressed, such as audio-visual equipment, assistance with the presentation, etc.

ATTENTION: Efforts have been made to verify the accuracy of this resource.  However, volunteer speakers nor their presentations have been pre-screened. Please contact program representatives immediately if inaccuracies or other program-related issues occur.
