The company employs skilled tailors and designers who transform customers’ wedding dresses from every decade into heirlooms and keepsakes that are cherished for generations. The company quickly outgrew its initial 5,000 square foot production studio in downtown Winston-Salem that opened in 2020.

The new 11,000 square foot space will be home to twenty-five full-time employees and continue to house the company’s customer care center, wedding dress storage and preservation services, and custom sewing operations. The new headquarters is housed in a Cameron Commercial property located at 4410 Providence Lane owned by Clarence R. Lambe, Jr.

Unbox The Dress® is the first online service that enables women to reimagine their wedding dresses, transforming their original gowns into one-of-a-kind garments, accessories, and heirloom gifts. Launched in 2017, the company has served more than 5,000 clients from across the country.

“We are honored to serve customers from coast to coast as we repurpose their family wedding gowns into beautiful products to keep for a lifetime,” said Grace Lightner, CEO and Co-Founder. “Our continual growth results in meaningful job creation here in the Triad area where we are committed to succeed.”

Unbox the Dress was a 2020 recipient of the NC Idea Seed Grant, awarded to early stage innovation startups with a proven concept. Grant funding was used to relocate the company from Ohio, hire seamstresses and purchase state of the art sewing equipment so the Unbox designers can produce their high-quality products with efficiency and precision.

In addition to its headquarters expansion, Unbox the Dress is also announcing an expanded product line as it adds new designs to meet customer demand. The new Luxe Collection includes a variety of product options showcasing elevated design and timeless luxury, while still honoring the original dress style and silhouette being transformed.
