A groundbreaking online platform, designed to empower and uplift Winston-Salem’s Hispanic community, has been launched. In the same way as a butterfly, Proyecto Mariposa spreads its wings to take off, providing a wealth of resources, information, alerts, and educational opportunities in Spanish.

“Proyecto Mariposa is a beacon of hope and progress for our vibrant Hispanic community,” says Marina Alemán, Proyecto Mariposa Lead. “We understand the challenges many people face, and this platform serves as a bridge, connecting them to essential resources and opportunities that can pave the way for a brighter future”.

This user-friendly platform caters to diverse needs, serving as:

  • Educational Gateway: Equip individuals with English skills, job-ready competencies, and access to educational pathways through online courses and scholarship resources.
  • Talent Matchmaker: Bridge the gap between diverse talent and inclusive employers with a skill-based job matching system, eliminating hiring bias and fostering economic mobility.
  • City Navigator: Simplify access to essential services like healthcare, childcare, and legal aid, while keeping the community informed about events and resources through real-time Spanish alerts.
  • Vibrant Community Hub: Foster a sense of belonging by connecting individuals with cultural events, volunteer opportunities, and city happenings, all in Spanish.

The initiative was brought to life by an ARPA Grant from the City of Winston-Salem. Its launch marks a significant milestone in the city’s commitment to fostering a thriving and empowered Hispanic community. 

Thanks to its user-friendly interface, culturally relevant content, and focus on economic mobility, the platform promises to be a transformative force, empowering individuals to navigate challenges, unlock opportunities, and reach their full potential.
