In a strategic initiative to relocate their manufacturing production back to the United States, GMAX Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of disposable medical products, has chosen to locate its base of manufacturing operations in Winston-Salem. The company is headquartered in New York.
GMAX Industries, Inc. is looking to purchase a facility on 5th Street where it will locate its manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution functions. The project will generate 42 new jobs and $15 million in capital investment over 5 years.
“As we evaluated locations for our U.S. manufacturing operations, Winston-Salem stood out for its strong logistics infrastructure, cost-effective business environment, and highly skilled workforce. The region offers the right combination of talent and resources to support our advanced manufacturing processes, making it an ideal place to grow. We are excited to establish our operations here,” says Eric Liu, President and CEO of GMAX Industries, Inc.
At the Winston-Salem facility, GMAX will manufacture a range of essential medical products, including OR towels, gauze, surgical drapes and gowns, as well as disposable syringes. The company’s operations will feature highly automated production lines, creating demand for both engineering expertise and skilled production staff. Additional roles will include equipment maintenance, warehousing, quality control, and more. The average annual wage is $63,810.
“We are proud to support GMAX Industries in their expansion efforts and excited for the opportunities generated by the high-quality jobs they will bring to our community. This is another great example of how we are strengthening our local economy by attracting investment in key industries – both in manufacturing and in the production of healthcare-related products,” says Mark Owens, President and CEO of Greater Winston-Salem Inc.
“This investment by GMAX Industries reinforces the strength of our workforce, our business-friendly environment, and the innovation-driven ecosystem that supports industry growth. We look forward to seeing their success here,” says Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines.
“The decision by GMAX Industries to bring manufacturing operations to Forsyth County highlights the advantages our region offers to businesses seeking growth. With access to a skilled workforce, as well as strong partnerships between industry and education, we are well-positioned to support companies in the medical manufacturing sector and beyond,” says Forsyth County Commissioner Don Martin.
GMAX Industries, Inc. was supported by the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, Forsyth Technical Community College, Forsyth County, the City of Winston-Salem, and Greater Winston-Salem Inc. to facilitate this project.
