The WSPR Fund has announced an investment in Three Strands Recovery Wear, a Winston-Salem–based startup company dedicated to improving post-surgical outcomes for breast surgery patients through innovative recovery apparel.
The funding will support Three Strands in expanding its brand presence at major trade shows and enhancing its online visibility, accelerating the company’s mission to make its flagship product, the Resilience Bra, a national standard of care.
“With WSPR’s support, we’ll be able to enhance awareness of our product to key decision-makers,” said Leah Wyrick Smith, CEO of Three Strands Recovery Wear. “These efforts bring us one step closer to achieving our vision of establishing the Resilience Bra as the standard of care for all breast surgery patients nationwide.”
The Resilience Bra is available for purchase online, at some mastectomy boutiques, and can be prescribed by a patient’s care team. It is typically covered by insurance as medically necessary equipment. Smith began work on the concept and launching the company starting at the age of 18.
Roberts Bass, one of The WSPR Fund’s three operating partners, said, “We are extremely pleased to provide the first outside capital to Leah and Three Strands Recovery Wear. A number of WSPR members and partners have served as mentors to Leah in the Winston-Salem entrepreneurial ecosystem since her days as a Wake Forest student. Leah has taken full advantage of the support available to entrepreneurs in Winston-Salem and in North Carolina, and we are excited to provide growth capital in support of her vision and mission.”
The WSPR Fund, launched to fuel early-stage growth companies in Winston-Salem, continues to invest in high-potential startups that drive innovation, create jobs, and strengthen the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. This marks the group’s 21st company investment.
