ReAgent Chemical Services, Ltd., a United Kingdom-based chemical manufacturer, has selected a site in Winston-Salem to establish a new facility. The company manufactures laboratory and other specialty chemicals to a wide range of industries. The project is projected to generate 30 new jobs and $4.8 million in capital investment over five years.
“Having identified significant potential for our products and services in the US, we began our search for a new location. North Carolina stood out for a variety of reasons including geographic location, proximity to customers and suppliers, and a good manufacturing labor market. We identified an ideal property enhanced by all of those assets here in Winston-Salem. We are excited to locate here, and eager to grow our US presence in the future. In the long term, we envision our US facility will be larger than our UK base,” says Richard Hudson, CEO of ReAgent Chemical Services.
“We have been working with ReAgent since August of 2024 to identify solutions for their growth, and we are excited for this milestone welcoming them officially to Winston-Salem,” says Ellis Keifer, Vice President of Economic Development for Greater Winston-Salem Inc. “The company was looking for proximity to industry clusters including manufacturing, life sciences, and pharmaceuticals which helped us to stand out against other potential markets.”
ReAgent will look to fill up to 30 new jobs in the short-term including management, sales positions, chemical production, warehousing, and quality control. The average annual wage will be just above $59,000.
“This project reflects our community’s growing reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing and life sciences. The new jobs and investment will strengthen our local economy and provide opportunities for our residents,” says Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines.
“Forsyth County is excited to support ReAgent’s US expansion,” says Forsyth County Commissioner Don Martin. “Their decision to locate here speaks to the strength of our workforce, our business climate, and our ability to attract international companies seeking to grow in key industries. We look forward to seeing them thrive in our community.”
ReAgent Chemical Services was supported by the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Forsyth County, the City of Winston-Salem, and Greater Winston-Salem Inc. to facilitate this project.
