
Greater Winston-Salem Inc. is pleased to announce that Joanna Mitchell has accepted a new leadership position with the organization as Associate Vice President of Executive Operations and Events. She has served as the Director of Programs and Events since 2020.
In her new role, Joanna will lead development and execution of Greater Winston-Salem Inc’s signature events providing valuable development and networking opportunities for thousands of attendees annually. Such events include the State of Education, State of the Economy, our Annual Meeting, and more. Joanna will also lead logistical operations for the executive department, including board of directors relations and other key organizational initiatives.

Since joining the team, Joanna’s efforts have created a significant impact on the growth of the organization and on membership satisfaction and value. She has led key events including the State of the Economy featuring NC Governor Josh Stein, the Annual Meeting celebrating the ACCE National Chamber of the Year recognition, and more. She has also been instrumental in developing new opportunities for member engagement including the Principal for a Day event, World of Work, Golf Tournament, and legislative trips, among others.

Before joining Greater Winston-Salem Inc., Joanna built her career in hospitality and event management, serving as Catering Sales Manager with Hospitality Ventures Management Group and as the Meetings and Special Events Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte, where she received the Five Star Employee of the Year Award while managing high-profile corporate and social events. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Elon University.
