Forsyth Tech is hosting a Cybersecurity Symposium on Friday, April 22 from 10 am – noon at the Oak Grove Center Auditorium on the College’s Main Campus, 2100 Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.
Featured speakers include Lynne Clark, chief of the National Information Assurance Education and Training Program, NSA/DHS National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense; Chip Moore, Chief Information Security Office, Department of Information Technology, State of NC; and Dr. Gerry Dozier, chairman and professor, Computer Science Department, NC AT&T State University an director, Center of Advanced Studies in Identity Sciences.
“Ms. Clark is visiting us to discuss our program’s designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in cybersecurity education and what that means to our community partners, workforce development initiatives and our state,” says Dr. Deanne Wesley, department chair Davis iTEC Center and Cyber Security Center. “We are honored to have Mr. Moore and Dr. Dozier participate to provide their unique perspectives as top strategic thinkers in the area of digital security to our students.
“Forsyth Tech is well-positioned to take the lead in raising the level of cybersecurity in our state by training the cybersecurity professionals of tomorrow through best practice educational offerings and the development of key business partnerships,” Wesley says. “This symposium is just one example of how we are helping prepare our students for the global digital economy.”
This symposium is being offered in response to President Obama’s challenge to experts within and outside government to meet the goals of his Cybersecurity National Action Plan, which calls for the development of actionable steps over the next decade designed to uncover new ways to continually strengthen cybersecurity in both public and private sectors while maintaining privacy.
