UNO Translations and Communications, LLC, based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is pleased to support their North Carolina Regional Manager, Guillermo Toruño, Jr., in his efforts to expand the Company’s community leadership vision to the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. Mr. Toruño is delighted to join the Board of Directors of the Hispanic League during their 25th anniversary year and will serve as the Chair of their Marketing Committee, dedicating time to various marketing projects.

In 2015, UNO Translations and Communications expanded its East Coast presence to the growing Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. Being new to the area, Mr. Toruño saw the opportunity to develop the company’s network and provide more exposure for UNO by getting involved with the Hispanic League. According to Mr. Toruño, “This is an exciting time for UNO to be in North Carolina because it is the fastest growing Latinx population in the country.”

He began his involvement with the Hispanic League as a volunteer on the Spring 2016 Fiesta planning committee – the largest, single-day Hispanic festival in the state. In January 2017, Mr. Toruño joined the Hispanic League as a Board Member to stay involved throughout the year and to use his unique perspective to help improve the quality of life for Latinx in the area. “The Hispanic League is honored to have the energy and expertise of new board members like Guillermo to help us accomplish our mission in the community. Improving the quality of life for Hispanics/Latinos through promoting community inclusion, education, health and multicultural understanding is front and center as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary in 2017,” says Mari Jo Turner, Executive Director of the Hispanic League.

While UNO provides translation services in over 200 languages, Spanish remains the majority target language.  Supporting the Latinx community and sharing their beautiful culture is a cause that Mr. Toruño supports wholeheartedly, while serving as a Board member will allow UNO the opportunity to gain better insight into the Latinx community of the Piedmont Triad region. Mr. Toruño finds great satisfaction in the services that UNO provides and intends to use his experience in the translation industry to support the Hispanic League’s communications needs.

UNO’s mission is to provide innovative approaches to multi-language translation, interpretation and cultural awareness consulting for organizations desiring a high degree of visibility and independence to operate effectively, locally and in the global marketplace. “I am very proud of Guillermo Toruño as he takes on the role of Board of Director for the Hispanic League. It has always been very important to me to give back to the community and Guillermo is an example of true leadership in business,” adds Brigitta Toruño, Founder and CEO of UNO Translations and Communications.

As a young Latinx professional, Mr. Toruño is committed to the Hispanic League’s cause. “It is an exciting time to be part of the Board of the Hispanic League because of the 25th anniversary this year and all of the exponential growth. We really have a chance to do some good and build new partnerships with like-minded businesses and organizations.”
