As part of Southside United Health Center’s (SUHC) mission to provide care that builds healthier communities, the organization will conduct free health screenings for an estimated 600 residents who are expected to attend the Second FaithAction ID Drive on April 8.

“SUHC is excited about the opportunity to offer this valuable health service to the individuals and families who will attend the ID Drive, especially those who may not have a medical home, or access to affordable healthcare,” said LaShun Huntley, CEO of SUHC. “These tests can possibly save a life or detect a condition before it causes harm.” The screenings will include testing for blood pressure, glucose, BMI and POSSE (Prevent Ongoing Spread of STIs Everywhere).

SUHC’s clinic is located in the SouthEast Plaza shopping center where the Second FaithAction ID Drive will be held. The organization is currently accepting new patients and can treat individuals who may need medical attention after their screening. “Last year 600 residents lined up as early as 4:45 a.m. for this event,” said Mari Jo Turner, Executive Director of the Hispanic League.

This event is open to anyone in need of obtaining a valid ID. Cost of ID is $10, and will be cash only. Doors will open at 9:00 am. The event run from 10:00am-12:00pm, and 1:00-3:00pm. Applicants must attend a required orientation at 10:00 am or at 1:00 pm. Anyone in need of a health screening is welcome and will be accommodated. Health screenings will start at 9:00 am.
